Weebly Tricks #46 - File Submission Form for Free Users

File Submission Form for Free Users

Since Weebly’s built-in File Submission Form is exclusive only for PRO users, I researched something that could help FREE accounts to have this feature. Of course, we will be using a third party code to complete this task. I would like to introduce JotForm, one of the best form makers to help you manage your site visitors without paying a penny.

The process is very simple, you just need to register an account for free.

1. Create an account in Dropbox. Not installing the application should be ok. Log in with your browser and leave it open.

2. Create an account in JotForm. After that you are ready to create your first form, simply click on the “Create Form” to start. Choose “blank form” first.

3. Drag the “file upload” on the right side to your form since this is your main objective. This is just to test the widget. Hit the “save” icon on top left.

4. After creating your form, click the “set up & embed” tab and above it, there will be choices. Please click the “source code” and you will be given a code. Copy that code and go to your Weebly Site.

5. Now on your Weebly page, drag one “embed code” and paste the code you've just copied from JotForm and TARAAA! Your personalized File submission Form is ready! Publish your site.

6. You may customize your form for a better appearance in your site.

7. When someone submitted a file on your form, you will be notified by an email. You can also check it by clicking "My Forms", select the form you made and click "submissions" above it.

Modifying your form from JotForm has no difference from Weebly’s RSVP. You can insert text, title, drop down buttons and more. But the main difference is you cannot insert a “file submission” in a Free Weebly Acount.

JotForm has many features I cannot enumerate but here are worth knowing:

-Allowed files: pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, csv, txt, rtf, html, zip, mp3, wma, mpg, flv, avi, jpg, jpeg, png, gif plus more.

-File size upload limit can also be specified.

-Almost every element can be customized with alignments and colors.

-Choose from different themes.

-You can directly download files from your Email.

-You can easily expand your submission limit.

For more information, please explore their site! They also provide tutorials upon signing up. Like us on Facebook and subscribe via email if you like this tutorial!

  1. This is great, and easily implemented. Is there a way to edit the code so that the Facebook widget does not load on a mobile device?

    1. Hi Roaming,

Thank you for the appreciation. Are you asking for the "Sticky Facebook Likebox"? If it is, I'm going to research for that and update the post.

  2. The free account at jotmail will allow only 100 submissions in a month. Any other alternative ?

  3. Hi Apoorv,

Try to search on Google and we'll integrate if possible.
